Appendix 1D; Realistic or Wishful Thinking?
A life of security and peace comes from embracing and conforming to the truth. When truth is rejected, the Bible says its due to a hard heart (Mark 16:14, Ephesians 4:18, Hebrews 3:14-16). A hardened heart is a failure to honor God by rejecting the truth of His Word. When you do not allow the truth to shape your reality, you become subject to your own rules and this usually leads to behavior that others may deem as dysfunctional behavior. Self and instant gratification motivates denial and leads to self-deception. The rejection of a truth feeds a needy self-concept and leads to actions that generate an illusion of control, false pride, and unintended negative consequences. Alternatively, when practicing humility to and by trusting God you willfully change your ways to mimic His and achieve the outcomes of your faith. Christian faith walks in the truth (John 16:13).

Walking in the truth of God results in peace (Psalm 119:151, Isaiah 45:19, 23-24, Philippians 4:6-8, Romans 5:1-2 see

The outcome of denial of truth is anxiety-
“… the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32)!
When faced with disappointment, take extra care to rightly divide the Word of truth so to avoid misplaced blame (2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17). Turn towards God to uncover and practice His Holy truth (Proverbs 14:12, 3:5-6).
